Which of the following marks the beginning of the Medieval era of Assam History?
Establishment of Kamrupa Kingdom
Establishment of Kamata Kingdom
Sukapha invading Assam
None of these
The Kamata kingdom appeared in the western part of the older Kamarupa on the Indian subcontinent in the 13th century, after the fall of the Pala dynasty. The rise of the Kamata kingdom marked the end of the ancient period in the History of Assam and the beginning of the medieval period. The 16th century is crucial in the history of medieval period because of the consolidation of the Ahoms (who partially annexed the Chutiya kingdom and pushed the Kachari kingdom away from central Assam) in the east, the Koch in the west and the growth of Ekasarana Dharma of Srimanta Sankardev.
