Universities of Rajasthan :
Universities of Rajasthan offer higher education in various fields of study. Some of them are known to be the best institutions in western India. These universities are situated in different parts of Rajasthan. Some of the universities of Rajasthan are University of Rajasthan, University of Bikaner and National Law University.
Universities of Rajasthan are institutions, which offer specialization in various fields to students in India. Government of Rajasthan has duly emphasized upon higher education in the state. Rajasthan has 15 state universities, 14 private universities and 8 deemed universities. There are more than 250 colleges, about 41 engineering colleges, about 55000 primary and about 7400 secondary schools in Rajasthan. Some of the universities of Rajasthan are described below.
Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University :
Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University is situated in Kota. It was established on 23rd of July, 1987 and was initially known as Kota Open University. The university imparts education in the fields of humanities, commerce, libraryscience and informatics.
University of Bikaner :
University of Bikaner is located in Bikaner. The university was established in 2003 and marks a significant milestone in the development of tertiary education in Rajasthan. It has faculties of commerce and management, science, arts, social sciences, law and education. The university focuses upon the issues related to the local region via teaching and research. Jai Narain Vyas University :
Jai Narain Vyas University, also known as University of Jodhpur is situated in the city of Jodhpur. It was established in 1962. The university was accredited with an ‘A Grade’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2005, which was maintained by it for 5 years. Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agriculture University :
Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agriculture University, earlier known as Rajasthan Agriculture University is situated in Bikaner. The present name of the university is based on the name of a freedom fighter and social reformer, Swami Keshwanand. The university consists of 6 colleges and teaching is split between two campuses. National Law University :
National Law University is situated in Jodhpur. The university imparts legal education, through dual undergraduate law degree, along with postgraduate courses in various areas of law and MBA (Masters of Business Administration). Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University :
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University is located in the city of Ajmer. It is one of the most popular educational centers in Rajasthan. It follows the principles of the great philosopher, Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati. It was set up on 1st of August, 1987.
Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology :
Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology is situated in Udaipur city in Rajasthan. It was established on November 1, 1999. Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology was established by the state government of Rajasthan on November 1, 1999. Since then it has been an academic institution supporting mainly south and south-eastern parts of Rajasthan. The university is responsible in identifying, designing, preparing and adapting new techniques in the field of production technology for agricultural development. It caters to the twelve districts of Rajasthan: Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi and Udaipur.
University of Kota :
The University of Kota is a public university in Kota, Rajasthan. It was established in 2003. University of Kota was recognized by the UGC in 2003 under the state act. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It has 129 affiliated colleges and autonomous departments. The university has education programs in six areas: Arts, Commerce & Management, Education, Law, Science and Social Science.
Mohanlal Sukhadia University :
Mohanlal Sukhadia University is a public university. It is also known as University of Udaipur. Mohanlal Sukhadia University consists of four constituent colleges and 60 affiliated colleges from the districts of Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Banswara, Dungarpur and Sirohi. The earlier agricultural University was turned into a multi-faculty university in 1964 and thereafter named as University of Udaipur. It was renamed as Mohanlal Sukhadia University in 1984. It is accredited at 5 stars level by UGC "NAAC".
Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University, Mount Abu :
This University propagates religious equality and teaches Raja Yoga to attain spirituality. Besides the mountain summits, temples and forts Mount Abu is famous for a place of interest that is quite different from these. It is the Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University and Museum. This organization is also known as Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya. The main aim of this monastery is to educate people morally and spiritually. This neo-Hindu sect promotes Raja Yoga, and different forms of meditation. The headquarters of this institute is located in Rajasthan. Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University was established in 1950. The teachings of this organization propagates that there must be equality amongst all religions. The main objective of the university is the establishment of universal peace. The university run here offers several courses to the interested students. Residences are also available at this educational institution. There is a museum too that displays the scriptures and other artifacts that belong to the organization. There is a separate meditation hall too where the tourists can try their hand at meditation. There is no entry fee for entering this museum.
Rajasthan Ayurved University :
Rajasthan Ayurved University is the first Ayurved University of Rajasthan and is the second University of its kind in India. It was established on 24th May, 2003. Rajasthan Ayurved University affiliates about 42 colleges/institutions of Ayurved, Unani and Homeopathy. Its constituent colleges are Ayurved College, training centre and Herbal farming centre.
