Stone of PGI centre laid in Una :
Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur laid the foundation stone of a PGI satellite centre at Malahat village, 3 km from Una city.
A sum of Rs 500 crore will be spent on the project. The 300-bed hospital will have various specialist departments like internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ENT, pediatrics, radiology and radio therapy besides dentistry.
The Union Health Minister announced that the health institution would be developed as a Regional Research Institute so as to provide a platform to study and research on the health issues which were more prevalent in the region. He said a mother and child healthcare centre estimated at Rs 20 crores and a level-3 trauma centre estimated at Rs 45 lakh had also been sanctioned for Una district.
Other development projects in Himachal :
Cente govt. work on 14 new AIIMS in the country, including the Rs 1,352 crores AIIMS hospital at Bilaspur, Super specialty wings sere being set up at the IGMC, Shimla and Tanda medical colleges at a cost of Rs 200 crores each. A cancer hospital at the IGMC Shimla was also being developed at a cost of Rs 200 crores.
Mother and child health care centres were being developed in each district, adding that seven new trauma centres had been sanctioned by the Union government in Himachal Pradesh.
50 medicines were being provided free of cost in all PHCs, while the number of free medicines in the CHCs was more than 100. At the sub-divisional hospitals and above, 500 medicines were provided free to patients. During the present govt. tenure, medicines estimated at Rs 14,000 crores were provided free to the patients.
Addressing People Chief Minister said, 22 lakh people in the state were benefited by the Ayushmaan Bharat scheme of the Union government and said the remaining were provided similar health benefits at a meager premium of Rs 1,000 per year for a family of five under the Him-Care scheme of the state government. He informed that in the last budget, the state government had announced ‘Sahara’ scheme to provide monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to a terminally ill patient.
