Why In The News?

• The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has introduced a comprehensive Vision Document aimed at fostering peace, development, and cultural preservation within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Key aspects of this initiative include:

1. Inclusive Development

• The Vision Document addresses the aspirations of 26 ethnic and tribal communities in BTR, focusing on preserving their languages, cultures, and identities.

2. Community Engagement

• Formulated through extensive consultations with various community members—including women, farmers, teachers, and youth—the document reflects a collective vision for the region's progress.

3. Environmental Conservation

• The Vision Document highlights the importance of conserving forests, water bodies, and biodiversity, addressing issues like human-wildlife conflicts, particularly with elephants.

Other initiatives for community harmony:

=> BTR chief Promod Boro said in order to bridge the gap among different communities in the Bodoland region other initiatives also have been taken like the Bodoland Happiness mission.

Bodoland Happiness Mission:

=> The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has launched a Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) happiness mission to ensure the assimilation of the people of all the communities living in the region.

How will assimilation of communities be promoted?

1. Through inter-community sports competition

• Rs five crore each would be spent on setting up sports academies in all the constituencies of the BTC.

2. Through cultural interaction

• One auditorium each is being constructed in all 40 constituencies of the Bodoland Territorial Region.

3. Training 400 peace and happiness volunteers

4. Bodoland Schools of Peace and Happiness will be opened
