The Rajasthan School of Art is the oldest institution of Rajasthan promoting Art and Culture in the State. It owes its inception and growth to a great lover and patron of Art, Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II, a ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Jaipur. The School was started in 1857 A.D., initially with the name "Madarsa-e-Hunari", i.e. The Institute of Arts. In course of time, the institute became a pioneer in the field of art with as many as forty different disciplines of art and craft on its curriculum.
