At the time of India's independence, Rajasthan was a part of 19 princely states and three small bases (Neemrana, Lava, Kushalgarh) and Ajmer Mewada Union Territory. These states, bases and Union Territories were formed in Rajasthan and this process was started from 18th March 1948.
