Vice-Cchancellor KP Singh said Deendayal Upadhyaya Centre of Excellence for Organic Farming has been set up at the varsity to popularise organic farming in the state. “Farmers will be extended scientific information on organic farming, marketing, storage and post-harvest technology.As many as 139 acres has been provided to this centre, which will be linked to varsity’s dairy. Cow dung, cow urine and agricultural waste converted into fertiliser through bio-compost and bio-energy units will be used on organic farm,” he said. The organic products of this centre will be directly sold in Delhi and NCR.This will be the first-of-its-kind centre in the country. A custom hire centre will be run by the university students, who will also train farmers on the use of advanced equipment. The centre will run on no profit no loss basis.
