Explanation:

Bhakhra Canal System became source of irrigation in 1954 when it started receiving supplies from Bhakhra Dam on the river Sutlej (in Punjab). It serves an area of 11,66,287 hectare (28.82 lakh acres) in the state.Gurgaon Canal System was started in 1960. About two thirds of its length is unlined.Besides these, there is another project, named Jawahar Lai Nehru Lift Irrigation(Canal) Project. It covers some parts of Mohindergarh, Bhiwani and Rohtak districts. There are also schemes such as Jui Lift Scheme, Sewani Lift Irrigation Scheme and Loharu Lift Irrigation Scheme in the district of Bhiwani.
