ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research, Karnal : Directorate of Wheat Research is a national institute under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India which coordinates the research activities related to wheat and barley improvement in the country. It has 02 regional stations at Flowerdale, Shimla and Dalang Maidan, Lahul spiti. Shimla centre is identified as centre of excellence for work on wheat rusts whereas Dalang Maidan serves as national facility for summer nursery. The directorate works under thematic areas of crop improvement, resource management, quality, crop protection and social sciences in wheat as well in barley. it facilitated release of more than 330 wheat and 50 barley varieites in the country.
