Explanation:

This scheme is being implemented to honour the girl child and to ensure that the girls from poor families and daughters of widows/destitute women, sports women and orphan girl child, are married gracefully. For this purpose, grant is given to the following persons for the celebration of marriage of their daughters under this scheme:

• A grant of Rs. 51000/- is provided to widows (Income criteria less than one lac p.a.). Out of this an amount of Rs. 46,000/- is to be paid on or before celebration of marriage and amount of Rs. 5,000/- is to be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate. No balance amount will be paid if marriage registration certificate is not submitted within 6 months.
• A grant of Rs. 41000/- is provided to the SC/DT families living below poverty line and widows/divorced/destitute women/ orphan and destitute children (Income criteria less than one lac p.a.). Out of this an amount of Rs. 36,000/- is to be paid on or before celebration of marriage and amount of Rs. 5,000/- is to be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate. No balance amount will be paid if marriage registration certificate is not submitted within 6 months.
• A grant of Rs. 11000/- is provided to the persons all sections of society living below poverty line (other than SC’s) and all section’s families (including SC/BC) having land holding of less than 2.5 acres or whose family annual income is less than Rs. 1,00,000 p.a. Out of this an amount of Rs. 10,000/- is to be paid on or before celebration of marriage and amount of Rs. 1,000/- is to be paid within 6 months on submission of marriage registration certificate. No balance amount will be paid if marriage registration certificate is not submitted within 6 months.
• A grant of Rs. 31000/- is provided to sports woman (any caste/any income).
