=> Famous litterateur, journalist, songwriter, poet, filmmaker, publisher and educationist Dr Surjya Hazarika got elected as the new president of the apex Assamese literary body Assam Sahitya Sabha for the new term of 2023–2025.

=> Dr Hazarika received Padma Shri award in 2008, for literature and education.

=> He became a lifetime member of the Asam Sahitya Sabha in 1979.
