=> The 76th biennial session of Assam Sahitya Sabha 2023 was held at Narayanpur, Lakhimpur.

=> It was commenced from January 31 to February 4.

=> The newly elected president Dr Surjya Hazarika assumed charge at the Narayanpur convention.

Narayanpur:

=> History of Narayanpur dates back to the early medieval period prior to the 8th century CE.

=> It is believed that the Dimasa-Kacharis had their territory in this area known as Dilyi.

=> A stone tablet inscription(Known as the Pathalipahar stone inscription, the longest ever of its kind found in Assam, Brahmi script) belonging to the 8th century says that the present day Narayanpur area was ruled by the Bhuyan clans of Bhagadutta’s lineage.

=> Narayanpur is the birthplace of Sri Sri Madhavdev, the greatest disciple of the sixteenth century Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankaradeva.

=> Madhavdev was born at Uzirar Tol, in 1489 (though it is contested to be in Letekupukhuri)
