The Jammu and Kashmir administration has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu to jointly work on capacity building of the information technology infrastructure and e-services.
According to the local administration, the collaboration will create a center of expertise and excellence for the design, and development of projects related to software services, cyber-security, capacity building for cyber compliances, and IT policies.
The agreement will also pave the way for developing and organizing hackathons for talent hunt, besides incubation of startups in the Union Territory.
As one of India's premier Indian Institutes of Technology, the university came into existence in 2016 when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, was signed.
IIT Jammu welcomed the first batch of students into the campus in Paloura, Jammu. In the initial phases, the establishment of IIT Jammu was done under the mentorship of IIT Delhi.
