During a review meeting of Nand Ghar Yojana held at the government secretariat, the Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma directed that under the scheme, 25,000 Anganwadi centres should be developed as Nand Ghars in a time bound manner.
It is important to note here that in the Budget 2021-22, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot had announced to develop 25,000 Anganwadi centres as 'Nand Ghars' .
Chief Secretary Usha Sharma directed the departmental officers to ensure that various works including building upgradation, LED projectors for distribution of e-learning materials and water purification equipment should be ensured in selected Anganwadi centers under the scheme.
She gave directions to the officers that a State Co-ordinate Committee should also be formed for better implementation of the scheme. Various works including water, electricity, internet connection will be be done in selected Anganwadi centers by the District Collectors.
According to Rajasthan Women and Child Development Secretary Dinesh Kumar Yadav, an MoU was signed in February 2022 between the Rajasthan state government and Vedanta Limited for developing 25,000 Anganwadi Centres as Nand Ghar in the cradle of the Budget Announcement 2021-22.
Nandghar is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model in India for child care and women empowerment.
The model includes adoption of existing Anganwadi centers by private parties and supporting them with modern technology, improved education, sanitation & hygiene support along with resources to deal with food insecurity and nutrition.
Under the model, it is encouraged that an Anganwadi Center is adopted for at least a period of five years.
