The state of Rajasthan has topped the country in linking Aadhaar cards with voter IDs.
The state achieved the feat after having collected over 55 lakh Aadhaar details from voters of the state as a part of the special campaign - ‘From CEO to BLO’.
So far, 2.52 crore voter IDs have been linked with Aadhaar cards across the country. According to the Chief Electoral Officer of Rajasthan, Praveen Gupta, in Rajasthan, 55.86 lakh voter IDs have been linked with Aadhaar cards.
It is pertinent to note here that linking of Aadhaar number with voter ID is a voluntary exercise. But, Aadhaar numbers are being linked with the voter IDs to prevent duplication in the names of voters and other discrepancies.
Under this campaign, all District Election Officers, EROs, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are giving hands-on information in government offices, non-government and private offices, institutions, colleges and schools about linking voter IDs with Aadhaar numbers through ‘Voter Helpline’ app.
A new Form-6B has also been introduced for collecting Aadhaar number of existing electors. Form-6B will be available on the website of the Election Commission of India. Voters can also feed Aadhaar numbers online through Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
