The state transport department has released the draft of Rajasthan Road Safety Act 2022 to improve road safety measures and reduce accidents.
With this release the department has complied with the chief minister’s budget announcement in this regard.
The department issued the Bill’s draft and stakeholders can submit their responses till a specified time.
The draft Bill proposes to establish a State Road Safety Authority, Rajasthan Public Transport Authority, Dedicated Road Safety fund and Public transport fund.
The draft states that in order to reduce the number of accidents, resultant injuries and fatalities in the state, the government shall issue Rajasthan State Road Safety Policy for well-coordinated, dedicated, and concentrated efforts from all stakeholder departments and other agencies engaged in road safety activities.
This policy would be issued for every five years and after completion of the specified time period, the policy shall be updated and re-issued according to the prevailing road safety scenario.
