Why In News?
=> The Uttar Pradesh government launched the Dastak Abhiyan to prevent the spread of water-borne and vector-borne diseases.
Key Points:
=> The campaign launched with the aim of keeping the people of Uttar Pradesh safe from various communicable diseases including Encephalitis, Malaria, Dengue, Filariasis and Chikungunya will continue till April 30.
=> Under this campaign, ASHA and Anganwadi workers have been entrusted with the responsibility of making people aware of various water-borne and mosquito-borne diseases.
=> Significantly, Uttar Pradesh, which has constituted the maximum number of monitoring committees in the country (over 60,000), is playing a vital role in the fight against seasonal fever, mosquito and water-borne diseases.
=> In addition to this, a weekly Mukhyamantri Jan-Arogya Mela has already been started along with a communicable disease control campaign to control the spread of vector-borne diseases.
