Why in News?
=> On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2022, an Environment Mass Awareness Run was organized in the morning from Albert Hall, Ramniwas Bagh in collaboration with Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Department of Environment and Climate Change and other departments.
Key Points:
=> This year, the theme of World Environment Day, 2022 was 'Only One Earth' by the United Nations Environment Programme .
=> On the occasion, a special theme 'Ban on Single Use Plastic' was laid down by the State Government and various programmes related to environment protection were launched.
=> Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas released the 'State Climate Change Action Plan' on the occasion.
=> The action plan has been prepared in a joint contract of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Rajasthan, State Pollution Control Board and IIT Mumbai in compliance with the budget announcement of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
=> In addition, mobile vans used for air quality monitoring, vehicles used for e-waste collection and 'Run for Environment' for environmental awareness were flagged off.
=> The mobile vans will be functioning as a moving laboratory and, if required, can be operated temporarily at various places for a few days to measure the air quality there.
=> On the occasion of World Environment Day, public awareness about e-waste will be made aware about e-waste by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Rajasthan and Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board in association with Attero Recycling by conducting an awareness campaign for door-to-door e-waste collection.
=> E-waste will be collected by Attero by going door-to-door in the city of Jaipur.
