Rana Pratap Singh, also known as Maharana Pratap, was born on 9th May 1540 in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan.

Maharana Pratap was the 13th Rajput king of Mewar, Rajasthan. He was titled as "Mewari Rana" and was notable for his military resistance against the expansionism of the Mughal Empire.

Maharana Pratap had a horse named Chetak which was dear to him.

Maharana Pratap fought many battles with the Mughals but the most historic battle was the Battle of Haldighati.

The Battle of Haldighati was fought in 1576 between Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber who was the general of the Mughal emperor Akbar.

Pratap, with his 20 thousand soldiers faced 80 thousand Mughal soldiers. This is one of the most famous battles in medieval Indian history.

Reportedly, he died after sustaining injuries in an accident at Chavand on January 19, 1597, at the age of 56.

He was succeeded by his son Amar Singh, who submitted in 1614 to Emperor Jahangir, son of Akbar.
