Explanation:

Sheep and wool development programme remained in progress during the year under report. In order to increase the wool yield of local sheep and to improve the mutton type sheep, the department had launched a cross breeding programme in sheep.The exotic breeds ie. Corriedale , Poldor set and Rambouillet are used for cross breeding. For the production of pure bred rams, a Sheep Breeding farm is functioning at Mattewara, District Ludhiana.
