Why in News?

=> In the context of International Women's Day on March 9, 2022, Mahila Mate Samman Utsav, working under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, was organized.

Key Points:

=> In the Samman Utsav, 75 such women mates were honored, who have done excellent work in their field. Certificates were distributed to them in the program.

=> This program was organized in collaboration with the organization 'Pradhan'.

=> On this occasion, MGNREGA Commissioner Sufia Farooqui Wali said that in the beginning of MGNREGA scheme only men were employed as mates, but now women are also being given work as mates.

=> To increase the participation and entitlement of women under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, work is being given in the scheme by selecting female mates in the state.

=> The main responsibility of women as mates is to help the workers in demanding employment, attendance at work and payment of wages on time.

=> These women are paid as per the rate applicable for semi-skilled workers.
