What is the news?

=> A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Assam government for dairy development in the Assam has been signed.

=> As per the MoU, a joint venture company of NDDB and the Assam government would be set up for Rs 2,000 crore with the target of processing 10 lakh litre of milk through six new milk processing units in seven years.

=> This would benefit more than 1,75,000 dairy farmers of Assam and increase their earnings.

National Dairy Development Board:

=> 1965 Government created National Dairy Development Board to increase Milk production in India.

=> Scientist Verghese Kurien(father of White Revolution) was it Chairman.

Purpose of NDDB-To replicate Amul story across India:

=> It brought White Revolution in India in 1970.

=> It transformed India from a milk deficient nation into the world's largest milk producers.
