What is the news?

=> Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made following statements-

1. On Insurgency

=> Except ULFA all other insurgent groups have surrendered weapons.

=> There is a possibility that ULFA group may also soon enter into a negotiated settlement.

2. On AFSPA

=> Army has been virtually withdrawn from the State barring 6-7 districts.

=> Soon AFSPA may be withdrawn if peace and tranquility sustains.

3. On Assam Economy

=> Assam is making huge capital investment, thus the State with an annual growth of 10 per cent is on track to achieve a GDP of more than Rs 6 lakh crore by 2026.
