Assam Skill University:

=> A first-of-its-kind institute in the northeast Assam Skill University (ASU) at Mangaldoi in Darrang district is being opened.

=> The university is being built at an estimated cost of 140 million dollars (approximately Rs 1,000 crore) and is scheduled to be completed by September 2026.

=> The institute will cater to over 10,000 students from the northeast and will focus on the Act East Policy to bring investments to Assam.

What is the news?

=> The fund for the university will be secured in the ratio of 80:20 from ADB and Assam government respectively.

=> The project cost is estimated at USD 140 million.

=> The loan agreement for the Assam Skill University project was signed with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
