Why in news:

• Tonk district administration recently initiated ‘Mission Lakshya Sadhana’.
• The scheme is intended to provide free NEET and JEE coaching to meritorious students from government schools.

Key Points:

• Under the project, students of classes 11 and 12 from marginal backgrounds, who cannot afford coaching fees, will be provided free technical and professional coaching for NEET and JEE.
• Under the mission, launched on December 10, students are selected on the basis of their merit and means so that maximum students can clear the exams to enter medical and engineering colleges.
• Coaching classes will be conducted by teachers from government schools. Many science teachers are interested to become part of this mission as informed by District education officer.
• Students who are keen to become doctors and engineers but have no means to avail costly coaching will get books and study materials.
• District collector will provide three sets of books to every student under the mission.
• Private libraries will be set up in every block of the district to provide books and an adequate atmosphere to students who are keen to study for entrance tests.
• The district will spend Rs 1 crore in Jila Navachar Kosh on education facilities of students.Around 2,000 students will be benefited under the mission.

Need of the hour:

• Due to lack of adequate entrance coaching facilities in the remote tribal district, parents of government school students are approaching the administration for free coaching for their children.
• These coaching classes for these examinations will be available in the Government Swami Vivekanand Model School, Mahatma Gandhi English medium school and in Government Senior Secondary Schools of every block in the Tonk district.
