Why in News?

=> For the confirmation of four thousand years old civilization in Babhaniyav of Rajatalab tehsil of Varanasi district, re-excavation was started by the Department of History and Archeology, BHU.

Key Points:

=> The purpose of this excavation is to find the time and details of the one-faced Shivling found in excavation done in 2020.

=> Also, it will also be ascertained whether the records, coins and pottery received from this place are related to this area or have been established by bringing them from somewhere else.

=> It is worth mentioning that in the excavation done in 2020, a temple between 8th to 5th AD, four thousand years old earthen pots and a two thousand year old wall were found.

=> Apart from this, a one-faced Shivling was also found, but its period has not been determined yet.

=> The inscription obtained from here was made by the Grami (Head), in which it is mentioned that Balyashti (Shivling) has been established here.
