Cybercrime police stations

Why in news:

  • The state of Rajasthan will soon have dedicated cyber police stations especially in the Mewat region including Bharatpur and Alwar along with new police stations in the districts close to other state borders.
  • With this development, senior officials of Rajasthan police are optimistic of getting more resources and facilities which would go a long way to curb increasing crime in the state.

  • Increasing cybercrime across the state has been a challenge for the authorities in the state, especially in the Mewat region covering Bharatpur and Alwar.
  • The officials are now hoping to get new cybercrime police stations in some or may be in every district across the state. Hence dedicated police stations are utterly necessary.
  • In the year 2021, the crime branch of the state police, had conducted various raids across the state and seized big hauls of narcotics.
  • The state government is also aiming to curb narcotics smuggling in the state which is one of the biggest challenge for the state government.
  • Therefore, in recent times, the state government have laid emphasis on having a dedicated police force to curb narcotics smuggling or dedicated police stations for this crime.
  • As per the concerned officials of the crime branch the department is hopeful to have either the dedicated force to curb narcotics smuggling or dedicated police stations.
  • Similarly, the senior officers are expecting to get a few more police stations across the state especially in the districts, which are close to the borders of other states.
  • Establishment of new police stations is soon expected in districts like Jhunjhunu, which is close to Haryana, Bharatpur, which shares its border with Uttar Pradesh, Jhalawar, which is close to Madhya Pradesh and Alwar, which is close to Haryana.
  • Director General of police, Rajasthan also emphasized that curbing cybercrime and narcotics smuggling is state police’s top priority. The department is looking to take all the necessary steps to make the police force stronger, efficient and wake to the needs of the general public.
