Why in news:

• Leading public sector units (PSUs) and private players have shown interest to sign MoUs with the state government for setting up solar energy plants in Rajasthan.
• The government is set to sign MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) or LoIs (Letter of Intent) for investing Rs 3.05 lakh crore under ‘Invest Rajasthan’ campaign.
• The companies that will be signing MOUs/LOIs are five PSUs including NTPC, NHPC, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, Tehri Hydel Development Corporation India Ltd., Solar Energy Corporation of India.
• In addition, agreements have also been signed with private companies like Reliance, Axis and SAEL.
• The expected investment is worth Rs 3.05 lakh crore which includes renewable energy projects with 92.1 GW capacity and 4 GW solar module manufacturing.
• Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Pvt Ltd, the nodal department for investment promotion will coordinate with the investors showing interest in the state.
• In the past few months, under the ‘Invest Rajasthan’ campaign, domestic and international investor connect programmes have been conducted by the industries department.
• The state signed 323 MoUs and LoIs worth Rs. 5.73 lakh crore. In summits conducted in districts 3,272 MoUs and LoIs worth Rs. 1.33 lakh crore were inked.
• Invest Rajasthan Summit, scheduled to be held on January 24-25, 2022 at JECC, Sitapura was postponed due to Covid situation.
• The focus of the industries department in the changed scenario is now on materialising the proposed investments and ensuring the execution of the projects in a streamlined manner.
