Current news?

=> For expansion project of Numaligarh Refinery Limited the nearby Rajabari tea estate gardens are being acquired.

=> The fear of job loss because of the acquisition led to the roadblock by the tea garden workers.

=> Government has worked out an adequate compensation package for the workers.

=> The monetary compensation of Rs 5 Lakh(4 lakh by tea management and 1 lakh by the government) for permanent workers.

=> Rs 2.5 lakhs (2 lakh by tea garden management and 50 thousand by state government) for temporary workers.

Numaligarh Refinery:

=> Located at Morangi, Golaghat district.

=> People of Assam have an emotional attachment with Numaligarh refinery Limited.

Why emotional attachment?

=> Known as Accord Refinery- because it was established as a result of Assam Accord 1985.

Future Projects of Numaligarh Refinery Limited:

=> Bio-Refinery-NRL is currently setting up a bamboo-based bio-refinery. Ethanol will be produced from Bamboo for blending with petrol/diesel.

=> Expansion-Investment of Rs 22,500 cr to Increase production three times from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.

=> Paradip Numaligarh Crude Pipeline-NRL is also laying its 1,630 Km long Paradip Numaligarh Crude Pipeline (PNCPL) crude pipeline, originating from Paradip Port, traversing through the States of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Assam and terminates at its refinery at Numaligarh (Assam).

=> The pipeline project is part of the mega Integrated Refinery Expansion project from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.
