The Government of Jammu and Kashmir recently announced the conferment of Jammu and Kashmir Government Awards, 2022.

These awards are conferred each year on the eve of Republic Day in recognition of contributions made by outstanding achievers in different fields viz; Achievements in the field of Literature, performing Art, excellence in Art & Crafts, Social Reforms and Empowerment, Meritorious Public Service, Lifetime Achievement in any other field, Award for Outstanding Sports Persons, Outstanding Media Persons and Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.

For outstanding contribution in the field of Literature, the Jammu and Kashmir Government Award, 2022 for Literature has been conferred on renowned Kashmir poetess and Sahitya Akademi Awardee. Naseem Shafaie and K.D. Maini are noted Pahari Writers and Satish Vimal is a renowned Writer and Poet.

Naseem Shafaie is a Kashmiri language poet who writes about a variety of topics including the turbulent atmosphere of Kashmir from a woman's perspective.

In 2011, she became the first Kashmiri woman to win the Sahitya Akademi Award.
