Assam-Meghalaya Boundary Disputes:
=> The 884-km boundary
=> Meghalaya got statehood in 1972.
=> As per Meghalaya government statements, today there are 12 areas of dispute between the two states.
=> Assam and Meghalaya governments had decided to focus on six of twelve areas of dispute in the first phase.
=> The six areas are Tarabari, Gizang, Boklapara, Pillangkata, Ratacherra and Hahim.
Current news:
=> The Assam government today proposed a resolution to the inter-state border dispute with Meghalaya in six areas through a give-and-take approach under which Assam will keep 18.51 sq km area of the total disputed 36.79 sq km and give the remaining 18.28 sq km to Meghalaya.
