Which of the following have been defined as the parameters for Special Category Status states?
1,2,4 and5 only
1,2,3,4 and 5
1,2 and 3 only
3, 4 and 5 only
Recently, Rajasthan government has once again raised the demand for giving special state status to Rajasthan.
Rajasthan government has conveyed to the central government that the state is facing a complex financial situation due to the adverse conditions of coronavirus and declining revenue income.
Other reasons cited by the state government for giving special category status to the state are state`s increasing share in centrally sponsored schemes, non-payment of GST compensation by the Center and transfer of an amount less than the estimate of the 15th Finance Commission.
These have been cited as the major reasons for this decrease in state’s revenue.
Special category status was first accorded in 1969 to Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Nagaland.
The parameters for SCS were:
Hilly Terrain
Low Population Density And/Or Sizeable Share of Tribal Population
Strategic Location along Borders With Neighbouring Countries
Economic and Infrastructure Backwardness
