Why in news:

• The health department of Rajasthan state government has recently launched Nirogi Rajasthan Chiranjeevi camps at which  free treatment and medicines will be provided.

Key Highlights:

• Under the camps, facilities from medicine, diagnosis, treatment and screening for non-communicable diseases will be done.
• Specialists such as physicians, gynecologists, pediatricians, ophthalmologists, dentists and AYUSH doctors will be available at the camps.
• If government specialist doctors are not available, the health department will make arrangement from the private sector.
• Also, nursing staff, pharmacists, ECG technician, lab technician, covid health assistant will be deployed at the camps.
• Medicines, which are available at district hospitals, will be made available at the camps. AYUSH medicines will also be available at the camp for patients. Ambulances will also be available.
• Besides, launching the health camps, health ministry also laid foundation stones and inaugurated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatric ICU (PICU), ICU, oxygen generation plants and diagnostic labs at Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner Government Medical Colleges and hospitals attached to them.
• As per the government claims, these works costing around Rs 44 crore will further strengthen the health infrastructure of hospitals and will help in treating children if third wave of covid-19 emerges.
• Foundation stone of 140-bedded NICU and 300-bedded PICU costing around Rs 16.72 crore were laid at JLN Medical College in Ajmer, RNT Medical College in Udaipur and SP Medical College in Bikaner.
• At these medical colleges, 8 oxygen generation plants with a capacity of 1130 cylinders costing approximately Rs 9 crore and two liquid medical oxygen plants with a capacity of 4400 cylinders per day were dedicated to the people.
•  Besides this, 100 ICU beds, 20 NICU beds and a BSL-2Lab costing around Rs 17 crore were also dedicated to the people.
• In the programme organised virtually from Swasthya Bhawan in Jaipur, the authorities informed that the capacity of conducting around 1.45 lakh RTPCR covid tests per day has been developed in the state.
• The department also has plans to achieve the capacity of1000 metric tonne oxygen soon.
