Why in news:

• Rajasthan government has recently given approval to provide 4% reservation to persons with disabilities (PwDS) in promotions in the state government services.
• Along with this, provision has been made to provide relaxation to specially-abled persons in the upper age limit and minimum marks to be secured in the direct recruitment.
• The chief minister has given approval to the circular for effective implementation. The authorities have also given instructions to appoint nodal officers in each department to comply with the provisions of reservation for PwDs.
• In this regard, approved has been given  to the circular to be issued by the Department of personnel (DOP) to all the departments for the effective implementation of the Rajasthan Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules-2021 in the state.
• Rajasthan is one of the leading states after Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Chhattisgarh to make provisions of reservation in promotion for PwDs.
• As per the notification, the Department of personnel has issued guidelines to all the departments regarding compliance of provisions related to reservation in direct recruitment and promotions, relaxation in upper age limit and concession in minimum marks to be secured by the PwDs.
• Under this, the nodal officer will ensure compliance of the reservation provisions for PwDs in all service cadres of the department concerned.
• For this, along with maintenance of the roster register, the nodal officer will also have to submit an annual report to the head of the department.
