Madhya Pradesh First in the Country in Prime Minister-Svanidhi Yojana

Why in News:

The Minister of Urban Development and Housing of Madhya Pradesh informed that Madhya Pradesh has achieved the first place in the country by fulfilling the target given by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the year 2021-22 in the Pradhan Mantri-Svanidhi Yojana.

Key Points:

=> He informed that 4 lakh 5 thousand street vendors have been benefited as per the target set in the scheme.

=> Street vendors in particular were in bad shape in an economy hit by the Covid-19.

• PM-Svanidhi Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 2, 2020, with the aim of re-establishing their employment.
• In this, interest free loan of Rs 10,000 is given to street vendors.

=> Under the scheme, there is a provision to sanction a loan of Rs 20,000 and then Rs 50,000 in the second phase to the street vendors who repay the loan of Rs 10,000.

=> Madhya Pradesh is top in the country in the implementation of the second phase.
