The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved to declare 15 November as Tribal Pride Day.
Key Points:
=> This announcement of the cabinet gives approval to the glorious history and cultural heritage of the tribal communities.
=> This day is dedicated to the memory of the brave tribal freedom fighters, so that the coming generations can know about their sacrifices towards the country.
=> As part of Tribal Pride Day celebrations, the Central Government in association with the State Governments will start a week long festival from November 15 to November 22 to showcase the glorious history of tribal society, culture, heritage, contribution of tribal society in the freedom struggle.
=> Born on November 15, 1875, Birsa Munda fought valiantly against the exploitative system of the British colonial system and led the movement against British repression, calling for 'ulgulan' (revolution).
=> The Prime Minister had approved the establishment of 10 tribal freedom fighter museums across India including Ranchi on the Independence Day of 2016.
=> The old jail in Ranchi, where Birsa Munda breathed his last, is being renovated as a museum.
