Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted an inter-departmental Working Group for establishment Tribal Research Institute (TRI)
An order to constitute the Working Group has been issued by the General Administration Department based on the proposal moved by the Tribal Affairs Department.
The Working Group is headed by Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department who has also been designated as Director, Tribal Research Institute.
The members of Working Group include:
Director, Archives, Archeology and Museums
Director, Libraries and Research
Director Tribal Affairs Department
Representative HoDs from Kashmir University, Jammu University and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) to be nominated by the Chairman
In addition to these, there will be some Non-Official Experts who will be nominated by the Chairman with the approval of Advisor.
With this step, the government envisages to establish a premier institute of excellence in research and development which will lay special focus on outcome evaluation and action research.
Apart from this, it will have active involvement in planning process for welfare of tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir
