Last year the aggregate technical and commercial loss of Bihar was 35%, it has decreased by 6% in the last 5 years, Bihar is incurring a loss of about Rs 1442 crore every year due to aggregate technical and commerce loss. The central government has directed to reduce this loss to 15%, otherwise the central assistance and schemes will be cut. Main reason for aggregate technical and commercial loss in Bihar-
• Theft of electricity
• Incorrect billing system
• Not having meter reading on time
• Not having meters everywhere in rural areas
• Excess dues on state government departments
• Rajveer shabby wiring power supply
• Technical Troubles.
Due to this loss, the ranking of both the companies of Bihar is down, North Bihar Electricity Company's ranking is 21 and it is in B grade and South Bihar Electricity Company is ranked 25 and it is in C grade, Jammu with highest loss in the country with 69 percent Jammu- Kashmir ranks first
