Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur virtually laid the foundation stones of development projects worth about Rs 66.36 crore in the Thunag area of the Mandi district.
He laid the foundation stones of a wayside amenity at Devnalah gram panchayat at Bagsaid under the Nai Rahe Nai Manjile scheme to be constructed, Government Senior Secondary School building at Sarachi, a 165-metre double-lane traffic tunnel between Thunag and Lambathach on the Mandi-Gagal-Chail-Janjehli road , Shillibagi to Deol Jainshla road, including a 30-metre span bridge under NABARD, a 30-metre span double lane bridge on Ropari Khud at Thunag among others.
About Nai Rahe Nai Manjile scheme It was launched by the State Govt. in 2018 to promote tourism in new areas and develop tourism infrastructure. The facilities like parks, walking trails, trekkers hostel, toilets, beautification of temples, Road widening, Rain shelters, landscaping, road signals and Traffic directions, street paths, Sarais, parkings, solid waste improvements, community halls, lighting and dustbin would be developed in the new defined tourism circuits. Besides promotion of local cuisines, folk artists, local artisans, culture, attire, tour guides, eco guides, adventure guides etc would be emphasised.
The objective of this scheme is diversification of tourism especially to rural areas and development of infrastructure at new places, promotion of rural tourism, employment and livelihood opportunities and thereafter promotion and marketing of new places. Under this new initiative, three places namely Bir Billing at District, Kangra, Janjehli in Mandi district and Chanshal in District Shimla would be covered.
