In a first in the Haryana state, the Fatehabad district administration has launched a web portal, ‘Vidyalaya Darpan’, where database of all private schools with regard to the government guidelines will be available to the parents as well as the authorities. The web portal will provide parents all information about various guidelines issued by the government with regard to the safety of schoolchildren and providing environment conducive to studies. Officers of the Education Department will be able to review this and inspect schools from time to time whether what was being claimed by the schools is correct on the ground or not. It also provides the parents an opportunity to judge as to which school is better for their children. The need for the web portal was necessitated because of recent incidents of violence in some schools and road accidents involving school buses.
