The government will soon introduce GPMS (Government Property Management System), a web-based application for creating a single database of properties, including land and buildings, owned by the government in its various departments.

• This will make a ready database of infrastructure available with the government and assist it in making better policy decisions for optimum utilisation of infrastructure.
• “At the moment, we don’t have any database of government properties. In fact, we don’t know how many buildings or land we own across the state. So, we are creating a web-based application which will be launched in a month or two that will enable us to know the details of properties at the click of a button,” said Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal at a press meet on the achievements of the government.
• He said for expenditure rationalisation, the state shifted 470 government offices from private to government buildings, which led to annual savings of Rs 6.42 crore.
