Mundal Singh and Bakhtar Say were Indian Freedom Fighters who fought against the East India Company force in 1812. Mundal Singh was born in Pahar Panri, Gumla district, Jharkhand and Bakhtar say was born in Nawagarh, Raidih, Gumla District,Jharkhand. Mundal singh was parganait of Pahar Punri and Bakhtar Say was a Jagirdar(zamindar) of Basudevkona. They fought against the British force as tribal rebels because the East India Company imposed a heavy tax on the people. This high tax on people made them rebellious against the East India Company and hence led to a war for their freedom from heavy taxation and rights of their peoples in 1812. Unfortunately, they both were arrested after a fight of 3 days and executed by hanging on 4th april 1812 in Kolkata by the British Force for their revolts.
