Telanga Kharia was a great Indian tribal Freedom Fighter born on 9th February, 1806 in Murgu Village , Gumla District, Jharkhand. He belonged to the Khariya Tribe. He made Sisai Akhara(Fighting Pit) and gave arms training to his followers. He then with his followers spearheaded a rebellion against injustice and land disputes of tribal people in the British Raj of Chotanagpur region during 1850-1860. One day he was surrounded by the British Army and was imprisoned in Calcutta jail for 18 years for being guilty of revolts against British.
