The Haryana Government has come out with a scheme to reward panchayats falling in the “red zone” for taking steps to prevent stubble burning in their respective villages. The efforts would be evaluated and the top three panchayats would be given Rs 10 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, respectively. It was also directed by the govt that the officers must ensure proper management of crop residue in compliance with the Supreme Court order. The sarpanches should hold a meeting of the respective gram sabhas and pass a resolution against stubble burning. The govt also directed the DCs to ensure the availability of crop residue management machines to small and marginal farmers.
