Madho Singh Bhandari , also known as 'Madho Singh Maletha', was a great warrior, commander and skilled engineer of Garhwal who brought the water of the river Cheerkar river to his village about 400 years ago. This story of his attempt to bring a canal to the village is also very similar to Dasharatha Manjhi . Madho Singh Bhandari has been an important part of Garhwal 's stories.
Madho Singh Bhandari was admitted to the army of the royal court of Srinagar at an early age and reached the rank of army chief with his bravery and war skills. He was the army chief of the army of King Mahipat Shah (1629–1646). Where he extended the king's kingdom to many new territories and helped to build many forts.
