At present chairperson of MP State Commission for Women is Lata Wankhede.
The purpose of the formation of the State Women's Commission :
1. To empower women in the state, to take care of and protect the interests of women, to discriminate against women, to take measures to eliminate conditions and provisions, to ensure their dignity and respect, to give them equal opportunities for development in every field. , State Women's Commission has been constituted in the state to take prompt action on atrocities and crimes against women. 2. The State Women's Commission is working as a friend, teacher, well-wisher and willful counselor of women. This commission is a constitutional body with powers of civil court. This commission has the status of a vigilant investigator, tester and observer. The Commission is an authority body whose recommendations the government cannot ignore. 3. This commission is seven members, six members are non-government and one member is government. Out of the non-government, the state government has given the status of Minister to the Chairman and other members as Minister of State. Madhya Pradesh State Women Commission was first constituted by the State Government on 23 March 1998 under Section 3 of the Madhya Pradesh State Women Commission Act 1995 (No. 20 of 1996).
