NEWS: 

• A lifesize statue of renowned freedom fighter, writer and former chairman of Nalbari Municipal Board, late Lohit Chandra Das was unveiled at Nalbari Hatkhola Pukhuripar.

Lohit Chandra Das:

• He fought for the poor and needy people of the society.
• Late Das along with a good number of farmers marched to Shillong,the capital of the state at that time on foot and registered their protest.
• Das motivated the Indira Gandhi government to pass the Land Reform Bill.
• He was known to all as ‘Nalbari Ninad’.
