The Central Government appointed Justice Harish Chandra Mishra as the Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court (HC) with effect from August 30, 2019. At present, he is the senior-most judge at the Jharkhand HC. He succeeded Justice Prashant Kumar who passed away on August 30, 2019.
i. He received a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the Patna Law College in 1984 and began his practice at the Patna High Court.
ii. He has served in Bihar Superior Judicial Service as an Additional District and Sessions Judge at Chapra in 1997 and was promoted as a District and Sessions Judge at Deoghar in 2002.
iii. He worked as the Registrar (Establishment) of the Jharkhand High Court (2006), District and Sessions Judge, Chaibasa (2008 -2009), Registrar General of the Jharkhand High Court (2009) and continued until his elevation to the Bench.
iv. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court in April 2011 and was made a permanent judge of the High Court in January 2013.
