Government Schemes for Scheduled Caste Welfare :
1. Scheduled Caste Prithasam Scholarship : Under this scheme, classes 1 to 8 and ITIs.
2. Scholarship to students of scheduled caste class 9 to 10 : Class 9-10 Scholarship is being conducted by the Central Government from the year 2011-12.
Eligibility for Scholarship :
3. Scheduled Caste Post Graduate Scholarship : Under this scheme, scholarship is provided to the students studying in post-matric classes as per the following standards: Eligibility for Scholarship : • Student / Student resident in Uttarakhand state or recognized university operating outside the state. Studying as an institutional student in a technical / medical / management institute. • The student has passed the previous year's class. • The student has not done any professional course before the current course. • The student is not receiving any other type of scholarship. • Scholarship will be admissible to students whose parents / guardians have an annual income of Rs. 250000 / - (Rupees two lakh fifty thousand) • Students have to apply for scholarship only in their institution. • Students studying outside the state along with the letter of the concerned institution will have to send the application to the District Social Welfare Officer of the district of their residence by 30 November. • Committee has been constituted for acceptance of scholarship at every school level. Scholarship Acceptance Committee, by providing scholarship approval to all eligible students, scholarship list and details of non-refundable fees prescribed by the government for university / related course, along with a letter of letter to District Social Welfare Officer through District Education Officer Arrangements are made to be made available.
4. Special Scholarship to the children of persons engaged in unhygienic occupation (leather tanning, leather scavenging):

Fee Compensation to Scheduled Caste Students in Pre-Second Classes: The Department has reduced the financial loss to schools for free education to scheduled caste students studying in classes 7 to 8 in recognized non-government schools. The fee is being met by providing compensation. The scheme envisages reimbursement of the following charges:Tuition, Sports, Medicine, Library, Instrument, Education, Ink etc.
6. Special coaching arrangement for Scheduled Caste students before High School and Intermediate final examination :
Scheme for English, maths and science subjects for scheduled caste students is being operated in all the districts of the state. . Under this, teachers of 10th class are given Rs 200 / - and 12th class teachers are given honorarium at the rate of Rs 300 / -. The said centers are being operated mostly in the state inter colleges and reputed colleges at district headquarters and tehsil level.
7. Education related work and financial facilities provided to them by voluntary organizations:
Voluntary organizations which take keen interest in the education of scheduled caste children and conduct education in schools, are given non-recurring or recurring grants as per the financial condition and policies of the government. Institutions that provide education to scheduled caste students For the expansion of the facilities, facilities of reading rooms / libraries and hostels are also provided, they are also given a grant. In schools run by voluntary organizations for the grant, special attention is given that the proportion of scheduled caste students should not be less than 50 percent. The amount of equivalent salary is provided in the form of recurring grant every year as per the pay scale fixed by the department for the admissible teachers in the recurring primary schools.
8. Operation of State Industrial Estate for the welfare of scheduled castes of the state:
To set up industries in the urban areas of Scheduled Castes in the state, the department operates an Industrial Estate at Haldwani (Nainital), which has 15 sheds and 19 plots, which is available to SC entrepreneurs at low rent to run their industries. There is a provision of giving Rs. 25 per month per plot, subject to lease deed and conditions. 25 shops under it is allocated to the artisans of the SC for the marketing of their products.
9. Implementation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act-1989 and Civil Rights Protection Act, 1955:
The Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955 and the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 are being carried out across the state with the aim of ending untouchability / untouchability towards Scheduled Castes. Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Scheduled Castes / Schedules promulgated in Part-2 Section-3 of the Extraordinary Gazette of the Government of India dated March 31, 1995 under the Prevention Act 1989 Based on the Chit Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules, 1995, provision has been made to provide financial assistance of Rs. 60,000 / - to a maximum of Rs. 5,00,000 / - to the oppressed SC / ST persons in various incidents of harassment.
10. Establishment of ITIs for Scheduled Castes:
At present, 03 departmental ITIs are set up in Uttarakhand to provide free technical education to scheduled caste students in Pines (Nainital), Maldhanchod and Bageshwar district, which has a training capacity of 333 students,
11. Hostel for Scheduled Caste Students / Girls:
Presently 15 hostels are operated for the purpose of providing residential facilities and food for scheduled caste students to take education away from their homes.
12. Arrangement of grant forthe marriage of daughters of Scheduled Castes and treatment of illness of their families : • The above scheme is operated by the Department for the marriage of the daughters of Scheduled Castes and for the treatment of illness of their families . The scheme has been in operation since 1982. Under this scheme, Scheduled Caste persons with an annual income up to Rs 15,000 / - are given financial assistance of Rs 50,000 / - for the marriage of daughters and a maximum of Rs 10,000 / - for the treatment of their families from the year 2013-14 .
13. Gauradevi Kanyadhan Yojana:
Gaura Devi Kanyadhan Yojana was started from the year 2006-07 with a view to upgrade the educational level of girls belonging to scheduled caste and BPL families. To be benefited under this scheme, the following standard is prescribed: - • Girl BPL belongs to the selected family or in rural area Rs. 15976 / - and in the urban area up to Rs. 21206 / - per year. In case of getting married, the girl's age should not be more than 25 years.National Savings Letter of Rs. 50,000 / - to the girl as Gauradevi Kanyadhan or FDR of State Bank of India is provided.
