  • A former Davis Cup coach and legendary Indian tennis player, Akhtar Ali, has passed away, as he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and other health issues. He was 81. 
  • Akhtar Ali, was a father figure in Indian tennis. 
  • He represented India continuously in eight Davis Cup between 1958 and 1964 and was captain of Indian Davis Cup in 2008.
  • Later he turned to coaching and had coached the players like Ramesh Krishnan, Vijay Amritraj, Anand Amritraj and Leander Paes.
